With such great weather here in Philadelphia, PA this past month, we’ve been hanging out outdoors with our friends almost everyday. All of these were shot in and around our house this past month. Our neighbor bought some chicks and the girls are completely in love. Liam is not to be trusted around them, some squeezing attempts might have been made. But all is fine!

Now check out Naomi Kalajoki Lifestyle Photographer.

And so it is spring here in Philadelphia, PA. We are happily enjoying the bit of warm weather these past couple of days. Spring is always so refreshing, especially before we get hit hard by allergies. It has been a great month with many adventures, though I didn’t take half as many photos as I’d like. We visited a few new places in Philly that we are excited to revisit soon. Lately I just haven’t been feeling like dragging the big camera around, so most of our adventures were captured with my iPhone 6, which I desperately need to upgrade. Can you tell which photos were taken with it?

When you are done looking over my photos head straight to Breanna Peterson’s blog, she is an incredible storyteller from Alaska...

One more cold month is over, we are closer and closer to spring and summer. Though this month was veeeery cold, we’ve had some great times just being home and healthy. Nothing like beating the flu to feel thankful for anything and everything. After you check out my 10 on 10 post head over to  Nicole’s blog and see what she’s up to in her corner of the world.

January is Penelope’s birthday month. She turned 6 this year, and we celebrated her life with some simple but thoughtful gifts.

I always take a portrait of my children on the day of their birthdays. This year I tried to recreate a portrait I took of Penelope 2 years ago, and it quickly became one of my favorite portraits of her.

We’ve also spent most Sunday afternoons walking around the city with grandma. In the past two months, we’ve seen so many awesome places that we had never been to in Philadelphia in the 20 or so years that we’ve lived here. I’m looking forward to more exploring. This shot was taken while walking to uncle Matt’s apartment after one of our mural visits.

The walls around ‘The Philadelphia Magic Gardens’ are just gorgeous, and there’s so much to be explored. We are definitely coming back for a longer visit when it is warmer.

After one of the coldest weeks we’ve had in a long time, we decided to head downtown to Ikea for lunch. Liam enjoyed the mashed potatoes and was upset whenever I paused from feeding him. This kid has the biggest appetite.

This is the view right outside of the Ikea food court windows. Amazing right? It’s in my future goals to visit that navy yard.

After Ikea, it was so warm out that we ended up stopping at a spot we’d been planning to visit since the summer. By luck we found an awesome mural there.

This spot is a new location in Philadelphia called the Rail Park. It was pretty amazing to photograph, even with it being super sunny and not very green. I can only imagine what it will be like on a warm summer day during sunset.

Probably the ‘brightest’ photo I took this month. I used this beautiful mural by Isaac T. Lin for the photo prompt “turn form into rhythm”, one of the many prompts of this month’s group project.

One of my favorite photos of this month, and possibly of all times, is this photo of Liam asleep in my dad’s lap. I love that we get to be close to my parents and enjoy these little moments with them. These are times I know the kids will cherish when they are older, because I too cherish the moments I had with my grandparents.

Last but not least, Liam started walking this month. He will be one next month and I am not ready for it...

In the past 30 days, we’ve celebrated, spent time with family,  started new projects, visited new places, and caught the flu. Yep, all of us, but Yasmin, started the year feeling like total crap. We’ve recovered though and things are going well. I said hello to 2019 by picking up the camera to take some self portraits. It is so hard for me to get in front of the camera, but I’ve made it one of my goals for 2019 and I am sticking to it. We’ve beat the flu, self portraits are easier than that, kind of. Anyways, I’m so excited about the personal projects I've started and can’t wait to share some of them with you in the upcoming months.

Being in the frame with my children once in a while is also one of my goals. I wanted to photograph him in my arms (with his squishy bottom) since I know soon enough I won’t be able/allowed to.

December 10 on 10 - 2018 | Evelyne Portraits & Lifestyle Photographer | Philadelphia - PA

For my December post I wanted to choose my favorite “10” photos of 2018, which is basically impossible when you photograph almost every day of the year.  I have so many favorites, and each of them are special for a different reason, so I decided to pick one photo for each month. I wouldn’t say they were my “best” technically or creatively, but they were definitely the highlights of each month.

IMG_7854.JPG

January: We were excited to be getting to the end of our ‘new house renovation’. This was the last portrait of the girls and our pets at our old house and it takes a special place in my heart.

IMG_7873.JPG

February: We moved and started to settle into our new home while getting ready for Liam’s arrival.

IMG_7874.JPG

March: We welcomed baby Liam on the 9th. He was so far my easiest and smoothest pregnancy, delivery and recovery. He has also been an incredibly easy baby besides still getting up a lot at night to nurse.

IMG_7855.JPG

April: Liam turned one month, and I took some of my favorite photos of the three together. I love seeing their relationships grow each day.

IMG_7876.JPG

May: We visited the Eastern State Penitentiary for the first time as a family, and the girls loved listening to all the awesome fact about this place.

IMG_7856.JPG

June: Yasmin and I went on a photo walk in Old City, Philadelphia. It is a rare occasion for us to be alone together, but so special and meaningful to me to listen to her without interruption.

IMG_7857.JPG

July: Liam and I spent lots of time inside, while the girls enjoyed their new pool.

IMG_7858.JPG

Also taken in July, this was my favorite portrait of Penelope of 2018. Already breaking my one photo per month rule. Oops!

IMG_7861.JPG

August: We went on vacation to Myrtle Beach, SC. I took a mirror selfie, my favorite photo of me this year.

IMG_7860.JPG

Also in August, my favorite portrait of Yasmin on our walk to see the sunrise.

IMG_7862.JPG

September: Penelope started kindergarten and Yasmin started middle school. We visited the park a lot of times in order to clear our minds of the busy and stressful first days of school.

IMG_7863.JPG

October: We enjoyed our last month with great grandma before she left to Brazil.

IMG_7866.JPG

November: This is what mornings are like for us. Liam crawls around, and the girls do school work, while the pets entertain and sometimes distract. We enjoy each other’s company a whole lot, almost all the time. lol…

IMG_7877.JPG

December: We visited Longwood Gardens with grandma.

We are so thankful for this beautiful year and the many amazing things that have happened to us. We are looking forward to 2019, and wishing all of our friends Happy Holidays! We hope you are able to enjoy it by being surrounded with the people you love.

I’m linking to my wonderful friend Kristi, go check out her December post and make sure to go around the circle to see all the beautiful talent from all over the world.

Ending with Liam’s 8 month Portrait. The crib has been lowered since he now lifts himself up at any given chance. He is also getting into a pretty great sleeping/feeding schedule, which makes our lives much easier. He is such a wonderful baby and we are so lucky to have him.

Today I’m linking to my friend Min over at Kuala Lumpur go check out her post and follow along the circle.

It’s October, my favorite month!  Fall is just the most beautiful around here on the east coast. October brings us the most unpredictable but lovely weather, and beautiful scenery.  We feel so lucky to be living at this place and time. I am so excited for all things fall, and taking tons of photos for the November linkup. Meanwhile, here are my favorites from September/October. Guys, I have a 7 month old! When did that happen? Also, a photo of my fam fam at the end of the post, taken by my gorgeous and  talented friend Nayara. I’m linking up to the dearest Sarah from Kalamazoo, MI. Go check out her October post by clicking here.

In August we spent some time in Myrtle Beach, SC. It was our second time there as family and it was awesome! I was a bit (or a lot tbh) anxious about traveling with a ‘barely’ 5 month old baby, but despite all my crazy thoughts of the thousand things that would go wrong, everything went as smoothly as possible. Here are some of my favorite images from the trip + a few more from the ten days we spent without big sis Yasmin while she was in Utah traveling with grandma Milene. Summer is over and we survived. We are so ready for this school year with a baby, a kindergartner and a 6th grader. Wish me luck! I’m linking up to my dear friend Kristi from Utah whom I admire so very much.. check out her post 10 on 10 post

Oh hey May! May is my birthday month and also the month when the weather finally stays warmer, and stops messing around with us. We really couldn’t wait for warmer weather. These photos were mostly from April, when we got at least a couple nice days. The girls got a trampoline and have spent most afternoons hopping up and down. I get tired just from watching. Meanwhile I’ve been enjoying my time with our little Liam as much as I can, he is growing like a weed, and I am so thankful to have him.

Our January was a mixture of trips to Ikea and our “under construction home”… We’ve been waiting impatiently to be able to move all of our things and wait for our baby boy. I somehow completed January’s 365… 1/12 (check)… I snuck in two self-portraits in there, both taken by my daughter Yasmin at 33 weeks and 35 ½ weeks… We are easing into February and getting close to the due date. Head over to my lovely friend Kristi's blog to check out her February 10 on 10...

I’m attempting a 365 project again this year. No rules, just daily photos for 365 days. So far we’re doing very well (but it's only the 10th, lol). I’m excited to be documenting our everyday, and all the things that are happening right now in our lives. Penelope is turning 5 this week and we are getting a ton of work done in our new house. So far we've had some sick days, some freezing temperatures, a lot of snow and a "bomb cyclone?".... We also got to visit our friends , have sleepovers over break, and watch the new Star Wars movie (which we loved). Bellow are a few favorite photos from this month so far. After you check mine out, head over to Min's blog to see her awesome post, she's also doing the 365 and 52 series, wish us both luck! Happy 2018!!!
